During class, dancers will be immersed in the culture and music of Hawai'a. They will learn basic Hawaiian songs and hula techniques that include proper posture, steps, and hand movements. Students will also learn oli (chant), including technique and style used in traditional protocol. Wear a swishy skirt and join the fun!
This class introduces children to the fundamentals of dance through the lens of ballet. Students will learn basic dance terminology, balance, coordination, and rhythm, as well as the joy of dance! This class serves as a great foundation for dance and stepping stone into TJ's diverse set of classes.

Class will begin with a warm up and across the floor combinations. In addition, you will learn a country line dance for the annual recital.
This class is designed for the true tap beginner. It's NEVER to late to learn to tap dance. We will begin with tap basics and see just how far we can go with this class. Dancers will also learn a dance to do at the June recital as well as a simple and short part of the group finale dance.
This 45 minute Hatha yoga class is perfect for the end of the work day, or to help you relax and get ready for that weekend mindset. This class teaches you to breathe through the movements and keep your mind at ease, as well as slowly introduces deeper stretches for your body.
Come join our 45 minute Vinyasa yoga class to start your morning off with a relaxing workout. These classes will have breathing exercises that you can use any time, even at home. With flowing movements to help your body feel strong and get ready for whatever the day will bring you.

This Tap class is designed for the intermediate to more advanced tappers with experience. We will do warm ups, barre work review and practice, and then move forward with new steps as we go. This class teaches technique at a more advance pace than the beg/int class. We will also work dancing at faster speeds. This class will learn their own recital dance and be part of the group finale dance for our June recital.
Fosse class is a classic at TJ Dance for beginners and experienced jazz dancers. We work on warm ups, stretch and strengthening exercises, and jazz dance combinations. Each year we learn a "Fosse" style dance for our June recital. Bob Fosse definitely had his own style when it came to dance and choreography. He is a legend. We'll learn to recreate many of his moves and put the moves together with other jazz choreographer to create our own style of "Fosse". This class will also participate in the group dance finale at the June recital
This Tap class is designed for the beginner tapper with some experience and the beg/int tapper. We will do warm ups, barre work review and practice, and then move forward with new steps as we go. This class will learn their own recital dance and be part of the group finale dance.
This unique class blends moves from street dance style (aka: hip hop dance) jazz funk, and modern dance moves that makes for expressive choreography that’s fun to do and watch! Difficulty levels will be adjusted as needed to fit the needs of the students.

In this combo class we will use the progressions of acrobatic tricks focusing on safety, strength and flexibility combined with the lyrical movement of contemporary. Acrobatics is all about safety and we want to make sure they use the correct techniques and muscles during tumbling. This class will focus on strengthening muscles for harder tricks in the future along with coordination, flexibility, and stability. Putting contemporary movement with acrobatic tricks makes for a beautiful, controlled trick and dance.
This class is specifically for our most advanced tap dancers and we are only doing the class once a month until we have enough interest to add it permanently and weekly to the schedule. At this once a month class, we will mostly review the barre work of grades 6, 7 and parts of 8 just to keep them fresh in our minds and in our feet! We can decide before the end of the year if we'd like to create a dance for recital.
Modern fusion is about exploring the mechanics of our body movement and expressions the fun way! This class blends lots of styles, but unlike the Wednesday Modern Fusion class, this one will put the focus on flowing movement and floorwork to explore fun and beautiful ways our body can move through space from high to low levels.
This class is best for dancers who want a little challenge for their bodies with more physically intensive movements.
Fun and energetic style of dance that will get everyone dancing along. This class will include a warm up and across the floor combinations. In addition, students will learn a hiphop dance to perform in the annual recital. Open to girls and boys aged 13-15 years old.
Increase your flexibility! Stretching multiple times a week is more important for gaining flexibility than doing one long session per week. As always remember to stay hydrated as it will keep you healthy and aid in flexibility training.

It’s never too late to start something new or get better at what you know. If you’ve always wanted to try hip hop or funk dance now’s the time! The first part of class is dedicated to learning classic and new hip hop grooves and then we work on choreography based on those grooves and adding some jazz funk flair fit for the stage!
This unique class starts by teaching simple tap and hip hop/jazz funk moves seperately and then putting them together. This class will focus on expressing with the sounds of your feet and harmonizing them with jazz funk and hip hop grooves.
This dance combination class is designed to give young children, ages 3-5, an introduction to both ballet and tap dancing. Students begin to learn ballet and tap terminology, do exercises at the barre, and to perform short combinations. This class emphasizes listening skills, following direction, musical awareness, coordination and flexibility,
Dancers will perform one dance and participate in the group opening number in the June recital. They will also learn an additional dance to perform for an in-studio show.

Creative Movement introduces the child to moving with the music, using both children’s songs and classical music. Locomotors action (walk, run, jump, turn, slow, fast) and being part of a group activity will be taught in the class. This requires the child to be able to separate from the parent, use listening skills and follow the teachers directions. Pretend play and imagination will be integral parts of this class. Children will be introduced to music styles and tempos, ballet stories, dance circuits, positions of the feet and arms, and learn how to plie and tendu. Dancers in this class will perform one dance number and participate in the group opening number in the June dance recital.
Canvas or leather ballet shoes required.
This class will teach both ballet and lyrical style of dancing for middle school age students, grades 6-8. Previous experience in ballet would be helpful, but not required, as fundamental skills will be taught at the barre and center floor. Warm-up stretches, along with learning dance combinations, will be included each class. One week the class will study ballet, the alternating week will be lyrical style. This class will learn two dances, one ballet, one lyrical, to perform in the annual Recital, along with participating in the Finale number.

Have you ever had a hard time picking just ONE style of dancing? Me too, which is why I started this class, which puts modern dance as its foundation, but draws on many different styles of dance to make fun and unique choreography you’ve never seen before.

This belly dance class is for beginning and intermediate students. Expect to have lots of fun and laughter while you sweat and learn to move your body in new ways.
Bollywood is an amalgamation of different classical forms and folk dances which originated in India. We will learn some folk dances like Garba and dance on bollywood numbers which has influences of Kathak in it. You will enjoy moving to the tunes of music having percussion and different stringed instruments along with semi classical vocal.

This dance combination class teaches tap and jazz. It is geared towards dancers with some dance experience. It begins with center floor warm ups and then we do barre work to learn, practice through repetition, and polish technique. We often do center floor combinations also, to add to our future dance routines. Students will increase their physical strength, flexibility and stamina as well as their dance abilities. This class will cultivate an interest in dance performance and a feeling of accomplishment. Dancers will perform one tap dance for the June recital (sometimes we even add a jazz dance) and participate in the group finale number in the June recital.

This dance combination class teaches basic ballet and lyrical to elementary school ages 9-11. Barre work and center floor combinations will be used to re-enforce learning dance routines. Students will increase their physical strength, flexibility and stamina. This class will cultivate an interest in dance performance and a feeling of accomplishment. Dancers will perform one dance and participate in the group opening number in the June recital.

In this combination class, your 4-6 year old will step into the magical world of dance, letting their imagination soar as they learn the basics of tap and ballet in a fun, engaging and accepting environment. Dancers focus on age appropriate techniques—toes and heels, front and back, right and left, slow and fast, as well as balance, strength, and coordination. Dancers in this class perform one dance number and participate in the group opening number in the June recital.

This dance combination class is designed to give young children, ages 3-6, an introduction to ballet, tap, and some jazz dancing. Students begin to learn ballet/jazz and tap terminology, warm ups center floor, and do exercises at the barre. They also learn some combinations that eventually will go into a dance they'll be learning for their performance in June. This class emphasizes listening skills, following direction, musical awareness, coordination and flexibility, and technique as well as learning just how fun dance can be!
Dancers will perform one dance and participate in the group opening number in the June recital.

Creative Movement introduces the child to moving with the music, using both children’s songs and a variety of music. Locomotor actions (walk, run, jump, turn, slow, fast) and being part of a group activity will be taught in the class. This requires the child to be able to separate from the parent, use listening skills and follow the teachers directions. Pretend play and imagination will be integral parts of this class. Children will be introduced to positions of the feet and arms, and learn how to plie and tendu, as well as beginning tap moves. Proper ballet slippers and tap shoes required, along with dance attire (no jeans, coveralls, or long play dresses). Dress up (provided by the teacher) will be used on occasion. A performance piece will be taught, along with the opening number, to be performed in the June dance recital.
This 30-minute class is designed for toddlers/preschoolers ages 18 months-3 years old, along with a caregiver. Baby Steps is a great transition for littles who aren't yet ready to leave mom/dad/caregiver. We will utilize musical instruments, stories, props, mats, bubbles and dance circuits. Children will learn balance and coordination, taking turns, following directions, music styles and tempos, colors, numbers, and animals, as well as the joy of dance!
