Creative Movement combines skill development (listening, balancing, holding a position) with self-expression to introduce students to moving with music. Dancers must be able to separate from the parent and follow the teachers direction. Pre-ballet introduces very young dancers to classical music, arm and feet positions and body placement. Dancers perform one dance and participate in the group opening number in our June recital.

Students begin learning ballet vocabulary, while cultivating creativity and performance confidence. This class focuses on listening skills, memory development, balance and creative dance. Occasionally tap and tumbling will be added. Dancers will perform one dance and participate in the group opening number in our June dance recital.

This dance combination class is designed to give young children, ages 5 and 6, an introduction to both ballet and tap dancing. Students begin to learn ballet and tap terminology, do exercises at the barre, and to perform short combinations. This class emphasizes listening skills, following direction, musical awareness, coordination and flexibility,

Dancers will perform one dance and participate in the group opening number in the June recital. They will also learn an additional dance to perform for an in-studio show.

This dance combination class teaches basic ballet and tap steps to elementary school ages 7-8. Barre work and center floor combinations will be used to re-enforce learning dance routines. Students will increase their physical strength, flexibility and stamina. This class will cultivate an interest in dance performance and a feeling of accomplishment. Dancers will perform one dance and participate in the group opening number in the June recital.

In this class, we will explore all forms of dance from many different continents and countries. Every month we will focus on a different continent with every class being a different country within that continent. For recital, we plan on mixing them all together and showing the audience what we have learned throughout the year. Our hope for this class is that we can help instill confidence and the love of dance while learning a little along the way. Come join us as we “Dance Around the World!”

This combination class will teach both ballet and tap steps and dance terminology for elementary school ages 9-11. Previous dance experience would be helpful, but not necessary as fundamental skills will be taught, along with expanding into dance combinations learned in the center. Barre work will be used for learning steps in ballet and tap. One dance will be performed in Recital, along with the group opening number. An additional dance will be taught to perform for an in-house performance at the end of the year.

9-13 yr old, Tap/Jazz/Ballet

This class will teach both ballet and lyrical style of dancing for middle school age students, grades 6-8. Previous experience in ballet would be helpful, but not required, as fundamental skills will be taught at the barre and center floor. Warm-up stretches, along with learning dance combinations, will be included each class. One week the class will study ballet, the alternating week will be lyrical style. This class will learn two dances, one ballet, one lyrical, to perform in the annual Recital, along with participating in the Finale number.
*Leather ballet slippers, and jazz shoes required.

Strength & Flexibility

It doesn’t matter what your level is, improving your strength and flexibility can aid in all walks of life. In Strength & Flexibility, we will focus on learning to enhance the main muscle groups via body-weight exercises, and increase range of motion through mindful stretching sessions using a variety of techniques. No two bodies are the same, so you can improve at your own pace by setting personalized goals. Bring yourself, a water bottle, and maybe a friend!
Optional Materials: Dance shoes with traction, yoga blocks, foam roller, athletic resistance band, phone/camera for tracking your personal progress.

Some students will be preparing for pointe work, This class will learn two dances to perform in Recital, one ballet number and one lyrical, along with participating in the Finale.

In order to perform unique choreography, we learn techniques from modern dance as a base for this class but also will take inspiration from many different styles such as lyrical, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, and more. Beginners and experienced dancers welcome.
